I'm A Winner

Wow I had a great weekend!!!  Spent Friday at the Road 2 Ca quilt convention looking at all of the beautiful quilts on display. There is definitely something for everyone. Traditional, modern, appliqué, pieced, old, new, sewn by machine, sewn by hand and many, many more!!  Then there is the shopping. Oh my!!  You can get in trouble at this place.

I won the Sunday prize!!! And will be the proud owner of a Martelli Cutting Table.
I don't have a good picture yet but will add a better one as soon as it arrives and I get it set up.

Check out the photos.. I only took a few and forgot to take a pic of each bio of the quilter so I can not show them here. This is a free pattern from Riley Blake, so cute.

Amazing hand quilting. I LOVE this detail!!

Love this color combination.

This was one of the winning quilts. It was so crowded I couldn't get a good pic or the bio of the maker but I'm sure it's available on the road website.

Fabulous weekend, I'll share my new cutting table soon..
Happy Sewing, K

New IPAD Blog Touch App. LOVE IT!!!!

Hello To My Quilty Friends
I have just this minute Purchased a new app for blogging on my IPAD.    It looks like it has lots of fontchoices, bold, italics, underline, and strike thru. Yeah I could never figure that one out.      I have font choices, I can change font color, oh so much fun. Font sizing is super easy too...
It has centering buttons here
Here
Here  and
Not sure what this one is going to do...it looks like it is supposed to justify but I'm not getting the correct look here.

You can insert YouTube or Vimeo videos
or photos right from your camera roll. Which doesn't work good on blogger.com and the iPad.  Super easy here.
And you can resize and reposition.  Woohoo this is great!!!!

I will be quilting this baby today.  This is a unique font choice.  It posts font above or below the current line of text...
 You  can
Add a   table
  1.  And customize its size.
  • Bullets can be numbered or bullets
  • Super cool.
You can make a tabbed list
Like this
And this
Nice feature

You can use the lightening bolt to do ??
or this cool
It has a forward and back button  and a HTML button that you can toggle back and forth to your page.the is a link button also, so I will add one here.  This is the pattern I am quilting in the borders of this mini quilt.
This is my oopsie block that I had to pick out and reposition.  And a pretty cool feature is you can copy and paste the entire post.  I just did that because I wrote my entire post in the pages instead of the posts section of the blog.  Now I can go back and delete the page.

You can even see all your comments or lack of while you are viewing each page and write back.  I will definitely recommend the app for $4.99 totally worth it.  Off to go sew, Happy Sunday, K

A Little Organization Needed-found more UFO's

So I decided I needed to organize my craft room after seeing some posts on sewing rooms and some Pinterest browsing.    The one thing I love about my craft room is I put all my favorite things in there to display that most people put away and only bring the out at the specific holiday time.

I keep. my snowman collection on a shelving section along with their Santa friends.  I pin up my sewing maching stitch sampler so I can look at it when I need a fancy stitch.  I post up drawings from my kids when they were little.  My Halloween quilts....you get the idea.  So it looks a bit cluttered, but I worked so hard on some of theses and to box them up all year is not appealing to me.

Now I really spend most of my time sewing downstairs at the kitchen table so I don't spend a ton of time in there so I don't get tired of seeing my snowmen.  The other space hog is my inspiration quilting frame and Viking machine.  I will have to admit that I did not use it at all this last year.  (I was assigned an extra assignment to cover for a coworker that was going to be on leave for 6 weeks that turned into over a year and just never had enough time/energy to start a project).

I also have a twin bed for when my daughter comes to stay.  She only comes once or twice a year and I can not figure out a way to hide that bed anywhere else in the house.    I would love some ideas on this one.  I might move the quilting cram forward so I can stand the bed behind it sideways.  Then I can add some table space.

That was rather long winded to get to my UFO  list.....so in my cleaning I found my snowman quilt that needs to be quilted and have all the buttons sewn on.  I think over 100 buttons.

The makings of a valentine wall hanging that is a very cute panel with a pieced border.

A felt pillow to be hand sewn, along with a felt table topper.

A painted plate that just needs the vines and final details painted and varnished.  Didn't find the pattern that goes with it yet.

2 lap quilts that need batting and backings.

Many punch needle projects that need framing.  Need some ideas...Pinterest??

I intend to get these going in the year 2013 and will start with loading one on the quilt frame this week after inventory.   I have to go take a nap now to prep myself for 3 overnighters of inventory bliss.  I make it sound like hell but I do love the process but getting 100 plus people to get it counted right is sometimes quite a chore, times that by 2 and you know what my next 3 nights will be like.  Did I mention I do like inventory?

Happy counting, I mean sewing, K

WIP Wednesday

Linking up with WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced.. Here is my progress on my scrappy hexie's.....a bit slow this week due to Inventory at work.   Prepping the stores to get ready for 3 overnighters.  Then a day of sleep followed by a 4 day weekend and some sewing time.

I was so excited that I posted this as done but it is still really a work in progress.  I forgot that I did not make or add the borders, which are a new project all on their own!  The borders have 22 double scallops on them.  I now have them made and added to the sides.

I did not sew them down yet.  Still basted on with Roxanne's glue baste.  I am debating whether to quilt/sew them down in one step during the quilting process....Any suggestions??  I really don't want to take another 5 years to finish it.  Oh and I do work Full Time and am so tired each day when I get home that I make dinner and sit in front of the TV for an hour then go to bed....No energy to sew or anything else but cuddle with Skittles the family pet.

Would love to hear your comments.....K

Today...

Today I started my first blog.... I am not a good writer so bear with me.  I am starting this blog because I want to follow along with the Free Motion Quilting Project and you need a blog to link your pictures so others can see your progress.  The challenge is UFO'S and I have quite a bit of them, for one reason or another I have not finished these projects.  Some are a bit of boredom, others a stumbling block with my skill level, the rest will be determined when I get them out.  You may wonder at my email address...p8ntingmom.   I decided one day that I wanted to learn to tole paint, so I bought a book and taut myself to paint.   That is about the time the Internet became available to  the mainstream.  I learned to sew as a child and have been crafty ever since.

So in to my UFO...l started this punched rug quite some time ago, years, and thought this is a good UFO, it's practically done.  Well I remembered why it's a UFO. I ran out of one color of yarn.  Luckily one of the colors had the tag on it still and I was able to buy it online.  So the punching is done, now I just need to sew the binding.

One of my other reasons for having so many ufos is that I like to work on multiple projects at once. Some for the couch, some for the sewing machine and some for travel like dr apps, waiting rooms etc.
That is enough for now let me get to the picture and design of my blog now...
